Background:
In an initiative to provide community support and positive exposure to Huntington Beach’s culinary scene Visit Huntington Beach launched the first ever Surf City USA® Foodie Awards. The program offered locals and visitors an opportunity to nominate and vote for their favorite business as well as inspire dialogue and generate excitement about spots across the city. There are 10 categories in which local businesses/restaurants can participate or register a nomination towards claiming fan-driven recognition, sweet promotional prizes, and the title of the “best.”
Creative:
Using a playful illustration style, simple icons, and a bright ocean-inspired color palette we created a visual identity that would feel approachable while still providing a sense of gravitas. This art direction and call for engagement aimed to build a sense of connection between the public and memorable food experiences at local spots.
A program toolkit was provided to every business that would supply them with graphics and helpful social direction to maximize their nominating/voting support on their own channels. This ultimately was successful in allowing each participant to showcase their business/restaurant their way wrapped in a cohesive parchment paper of the program identity.
